35-year-old Derek Michael Hopkins called the police to the North Riverside Drive Waffle House around 8:45 p.m. on June 1st. He advised dispatch that he was reacting to a narcotic. When officers arrived, they Mirandized him, under which he stated that he pulled over to the establishment after taking 100 mg of Tapentadol earlier in the night. The drug made him feel like everything “seemed far away,” so he pulled over. Hopkins agreed to provide a blood sample and was transported to Sango Emergency Room. Hopkins was taken into custody for driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence.
Derek Michael Hopkins of Antioch Church Road in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on June 1st, charged with driving under the influence and suspended license. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $3,000.
