DUI: Soldier Kolby Wimberley drives against traffic on I-24, says GPS took him the wrong way

33-year-old Soldier Kolby Duane Wimberley was driving on the wrong side of the road down I-24 near Exit 4 on August 17th. Officers received multiple calls regarding Wimberley going eastbound in the westbound lane. When police arrived, they observed Wimberley in a Dodge truck traveling the wrong way. After noticing this, officers initiated their emergency equipment, and Wimberley corrected his travel direction before exiting the vehicle.

They asked Wimberley if he knew why they had stopped him, to which he stated that his GPS took him the wrong way but was unsure why. Wimberley later added that he had been to a local brewery, where he had a few drinks. Then, Wimberley consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. After being informed of implied consent, he agreed to provide a blood sample. Wimberley was transported to Tennova for a blood draw and was taken into custody for driving under the influence on August 18th.

Kolby Duane Wimberley of Westfield Court in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on August 18th, charged with DUI. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $1,500.
