DUI: Troy Whitaker resists arrest after disobeying officers during traffic stop

35-year-old Troy Whitaker was seen resisting arrest on August 18th. Officers observed a vehicle whose registration did not match or come back on file, so they initiated a traffic stop. However, the car did not stop for police. Officers then followed the vehicle, which eventually came to a halt. Whitaker, the driver and sole occupant of the car, proceeded to step out of the vehicle. Officers gave numerous commands to get back into the car. However, Whitaker refused again and did not get back in his vehicle. Whitaker was then given commands to put his hands behind his back and to stop resisting arrest.

Whitaker once again refused to comply and attempted to pull away from officers as they tried to place handcuffs on him. Once Whitaker was in custody, a search of his vehicle yielded two open containers of vodka. A check of information showed that Whitaker had a suspended license for failure to pay in 2016. Whitaker was then transported and was later charged with evading arrest, driving on a suspended license, open container of alcohol, traffic registration misuse, and resisting arrest.

Troy Lamar Whitaker of Medallion Court in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on August 18th, charged with evading arrest, driving on suspended license, open container, registration misuse and resisting arrest. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $3,500.
