46-year-old Herbert Jones was caught with a stolen Freightliner semi-truck near Motel 6 on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard on May 9th, 2024. The vehicle was reported stolen in 2023. Officers made contact with Jones, who claimed that he had purchased the truck from someone named Rod Patrick in November 2023. Jones had no paperwork about the sale and stated that he paid $40,000 in cash for the vehicle. The vehicle was registered in his name, and the seller gave another title. All the VINs were removed prior to the sale except one located on the engine, which did not match the registration VIN. The truck was valued at $90,000. Jones was taken into custody for possession of stolen property.
Herbert Lee Jones of Davidson Road in Olive Branch, MS, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on May 9th, charged with possession of stolen property. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $40,000.
