DUI: Essence Thomas swerves on Fort Cambell Boulevard after leaving the bar

31-year-old Essence Shavon Thomas, a hospice aide, swerved while driving on Fort Campbell Boulevard in the early hours of May 12th. Officers watched as she nearly sideswiped a black sedan and conducted a traffic stop near The Vape Loft. When officers approached the driver’s side, they spoke with Thomas, who reeked of booze, showing signs of inebriation, advising them that she was traveling from “the bar.” She denied any alcohol consumption before refusing to take sobriety tests. They detained her and informed her of implied consent, which was when she declined to provide a chemical sample. During a subsequent search of her vehicle, they discovered she had a half-empty bottle of Don Julio on the passenger floorboard. Thomas was then taken into custody for driving under the influence and an open container violation.
