31-year-old Kayla Smiley was seen almost hitting law enforcement in a blue Toyota sedan while driving in the opposite direction on I-24 on June 3rd. When officers made contact with Smiley, they reported that they observed several signs of intoxication, including the smell of alcohol coming from her person. Smiley agreed to perform sobriety tests, but before doing them, she confessed that she was leaving Nashville after having an alcoholic drink. After Smiley performed poorly on sobriety tests, she was read implied consent. Smiley told police she had gotten on I-24 from Exit 31 and did not stop until she was pulled over. Clarksville Police received several calls due to her traveling in the opposite direction on the interstate. Kayla Smiley was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving.
Kayla Lareen Smiley of Teakwood Drive in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on June 3rd, charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $3,000.
