Raquel Brooks charged after lying to police about shooting himself in the leg

27-year-old Raquel Brooks was caught giving officers a false statement on July 22nd at the Tennova Hospital. On the mentioned date, Brooks was transported to the Tennova Hospital for a gunshot wound to his leg. The wound entered near his groin and out of his hamstring. Officers spoke with Brooks to question him about his injuries. Brooks reported that an unknown individual shot him while he was working on his vehicle on Sambar Drive. While Brooks was being treated, his pants were collected.

Once officers observed Brooks’ pants, they found that there wasn’t an entry hole where Brooks was shot. During the investigation of the incident, officers were able to find video footage from a residence near where the shooting took place. In the video, officers were able to hear Brooks saying that he shot himself and needed someone to take him to the hospital. During this, officers also found that Brooks had COR on file, which prevented him from possessing a firearm during the time of the incident. Brooks was later taken into custody and charged with contempt violation and making a false report on August 17th.

Raquel Aveon Brooks of Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on August 17th, charged with false report and contempt. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $7,000.
