29-year-old Devin Layne, an employee of Buffalo Wild Wings, was caught assaulting his girlfriend, Melissa Murray, at their Hay Market Road residence on August 29th. When officers spoke with Murray, she stated that during an argument with Layne, he started punching her in the face. Following this, Murray attempted to push him off of her. Murray doing this led to Layne putting his hands around her neck and strangling her.
Murray added that she thought she was going to lose consciousness. Murray then told officers that Layne began to put out a lit cigarette on her chin and neck. Murray stated that this left visible markings that officers observed. When officers later came into contact with Layne, he was taken into custody for aggravated domestic assault on August 30th.
Devin Alexander Layne of Haymarket Road in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on August 30th, charged with aggravated assault. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $10,000.
