Chastity Buckner lies to police about tag theft to help her shoplifting case in Smyrna, TN

31-year-old Chastity Buckner was caught after making a false report to officers on March 14th at Governor Square Mall. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Buckner, who told officers that she was at the mall on November 27th, 2023, and the temporary tag to her vehicle had been stolen. When officers asked her why it took so long to report it, she claimed that she reported it to her dealership. Buckner added that they had her actual tag ready, so she did not think it mattered. Buckner told officers that she only called now because she learned of crimes that were committed in Smyrna, Tennessee, where the tag was used to identify and charge her. Officers then spoke with Smyrna police, who sent a police report showing that Buckner was identified as one of multiple shoplifters and the driver who fled, as well as almost hitting a police cruiser. This incident occurred on November 27th, 2023, and she was arrested for those charges earlier in the day. Officers deemed that Buckner was lying about the temporary tag being stolen to help her Smyrna case, and a warrant was issued for her arrest on March 14th. Buckner was later taken into custody for false reporting on June 4th.
