Orlando Spivey flees after hitting man’s car while picking child up from football practice

36-year-old Orlando Spivey was seen fleeing the scene after a car wreck near Northeast Middle School on Trenton Road on July 19th. When officers arrived, they met with Nicholas Shaw. Shaw informed officers that when he picked his child up from football practice, a man, later identified as Spivey, side-swiped his vehicle on the driver’s side, causing damage. Shaw told officers he had talked to Spivey, informing him that he had hit his truck. However, Shaw stated nothing came out of the conversation. Shaw then described the man to officers before telling them that Spivey appeared intoxicated to him because of his slurred speech. Shaw also stated that he tried to exchange information with Spivey.

Still, Spivey refused and proceeded to drive to the children’s coach, pick up his child, and drive away. Officers then spoke with Coach Gaston, the children’s football coach, who stated that Spivey was unsteady on his feet when he exited his vehicle. Gaston also told officers that he saw two cans of Club Tail Screw Drivers beside Spivey’s truck when he drove away. Shaw and Gaston were both shown a picture and successfully identified the man to officers. Officers attempted to contact Spivey at his residence but could not do so. However, officers noticed the vehicle in the driveway had body damage consistent with striking Shaw’s’ vehicle. Officers also saw a Club Tails Screwdriver on the edge of the sideway at the residence. A warrant was then issued for his arrest, and Spivey was later taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident with damage on July 22nd.
