DUI: Melissa Johnson swerves between lanes on Peachers Mill Road after having 2-3 shots of Cognac

On August 15th, 48-year-old Melissa Johnson was stopped in her Subaru Outback after crossing over the fog line multiple times on Peachers Mill Road. Once officers made contact with Johnson, they reported that they noticed the strong smell of alcohol coming from her. Officers noted that she was also showing several signs of intoxication. After being asked if she had drunk anything, Johnson admitted that she had consumed 2-3 shots of Cognac before driving. Johnson performed sobriety tests and performed poorly, showing signs of impairment. Johnson was then taken into custody. During an arrest search of Johnson’s car, officers located a plastic baggie containing marijuana. A check of Johnson’s license also revealed that it had been suspended for failing to provide proof of insurance on August 4th. Johnson was then transported to booking and charged with driving under the influence, simple possession, and driving on a suspended license on August 16th.
