Soldier Michael Crockett assaults wife during argument over childcare

35-year-old Michael Keith Crockett of the US Army had a domestic altercation with his wife, Kayla Penaranda, at their Magnolia Drive residence on June 8th. Crockett told responding officers that he and Penaranda had argued over their child’s care, during which he tried to take their kid from her. When they spoke with Penaranda, she stated Crockett restricted her movements while she held their kid. Penaranda said Crockett then pushed her, leaving a scratch on her right forearm. She said she did not believe he would hurt their child, but she was in fear for her safety during the incident. Officers reviewed footage of the occurrence, which showed Penaranda telling Crockett to call “911” due to her not feeling safe. Crockett replied that they do not handle domestic disputes. Crockett was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.
