DUI: Michael Dew tells officers he took Trazodone after running stop signs

23-year-old Michael Dew was seen running stop signs near Palmyra Market on Highway 149 at 3:40 a.m. on June 20th. Officers observed an ambulance following a white truck heading towards Highway 48 that was failing to maintain its lane. Officers followed them and observed the ambulance and truck making a right turn on Hawkins Road. Officers observed the truck failing to stop at a marked stop sign and noticed the truck veering into the center yellow line and then abruptly correcting itself. A traffic stop was initiated, and upon contact with Dew, officers noticed he appeared intoxicated and that he would “zone out.” Officers proceeded to ask Dew to exit the vehicle, where they asked him if he had taken any medication or alcohol, to which he replied, “Trazodone.” Dew stated several times that he was tired, which is a known side effect of the medication. Dew was then asked to perform sobriety tests, which he agreed to but performed poorly on. Michael Dew was then taken into custody for driving under the influence, stop sign violation, and improper lane use.
