DUI: Xavier Kueny jailed after causing fatal car crash on Madison Street in 2022

29-year-old Xavier Kueny was arrested after driving under the influence and causing a fatal car crash near Kroger on Madison Street on August 1st, 2022. Officers responded to a car crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. Upon arrival, they found the motorcycle driver, later identified as Michael Nulty, unresponsive. CPR was in progress, but unfortunately, Nulty passed away from his injuries. Officers determined that the driver of the other vehicle, later identified as Kueny, had pulled out in front of Nulty, causing the crash. Officers then spoke with Kueny and immediately noticed the smell of alcohol coming from his breath. Officers asked Kueny if he would like to give a sample of his blood to determine if he was under the influence at the time of the crash, which he agreed to. Officers later received the results, showing that Kueny’s BAC level was .117% when the blood was drawn at 4.00 p.m. However, officers noted that the crash happened at 2.29 p.m. Despite this, it was determined that Kueny was under the influence at the time of the crash. Kueny was later taken into custody for driving under the influence on July 30th, 2024. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $5,000.
